NAACP TO HOST 45th FREEDOM FUND EVENT

      The Kansas City, MO branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host its 45th Freedom Fund event with a Luncheon and Silent Auction on Saturday, November 3rd.  The location is Westin Crown Center Hotel, One Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO with Silent Auction beginning at 11 AM and Luncheon at 12 Noon.  The cost of the luncheon is seventy-five dollars ($75).   “Your Power, Your Decision – VOTE!” is the chosen theme for the year 2012 .
 
     The luncheon serves as a fundraiser for the continuation of civil and human rights advocacy. We, moreover, continue to promote membership solicitation, since the life-blood of the organization has thrived throughout the years on memberships; and for public information, the president, officers, and members serve on a non-paid volunteer basis.  
 
     Leon W. Russell, Vice Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors will serve as keynote speaker.  He is former Director, Office of Human Rights for Pinellas County Government of Clearwater, Florida from 2007 – 2012.  James “Jim” Nunnelly and Jazel Nunnelly  are honorary chairpersons.  
 
     Four prestigious NAACP awards will be presented to the following persons:           
          Harold L. Holliday, Sr. Civil Rights: James B. Nutter, Sr.
          Lucile H. Bluford Special Achievement: Leonard Zeskind  
          Carl R. Johnson Humanitarian:  Nevada A. Lee, M.D.
          Velma E. Woodson Outstanding Leadership:  Maurice A. Watson, Esq.
